Lineside works
Network Rail have advised us of general vegetation management work that thery will be undertaking in Ashtead in April. Works will take place from 23:00 Tuesday 7th April 2026 to 07:00 Wednesday 8th April 2026. See map above of the area of where the works will take place. Local residents will receive a notification early next week about the works.
Most of the work is general maintenance. They only remove trees that are, or could be, dangerous and affect the reliability of services that passengers rely on every day. Sometimes, they need to clear areas of vegetation to help their trackside teams to walk safely along the railway when inspecting or accessing locations.
Network Rail say they take their responsibility to protect the lineside habitats very seriously. They arrange this carefully with the help of specialists when doing any tree and vegetation management. Before work starts, they carry out surveys and ongoing daily checks. If they find any protected species or nesting birds, they will use appropriate methods of working.
The nature of the tasks means they can't prevent all noise, but their teams will try to minimise this as much as possible. They have apologised for any disturbance.
