Temporary Part Closure of Bridleway 116

Public Bridleway 116 (Leatherhead)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)

The Surrey County Council

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026

On 19 March 2026 Surrey County Council will make the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Bridleway 116 (Leatherhead) from point A (Grid ref: 517707 156743) to point B (Grid ref: 517663 156691). Shown as a solid black line on plan ref: 3/1/51/H128. (See below)

The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to works being undertaken on or near the highway. The closure will be in operation for a period of two months from 23 March 2026 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route for pedestrians from point A (Grid ref: 517707 156743) will be to head North on Quarry Gardens for 100 metres, then head East for 57 metres, then head North for 70 metres. Follow the alley from Quarry Gardens to Leatherhead Road and follow the road South West for 250 metres, then head South for 90 metres to Bridleway 119 (Leatherhead). Then head East for 90 metres, then South east for 85 metres to point B (Grid Ref: 517663 156691). There is no recommended alternative route for equestrians and cyclists.

The alternative route for traffic from point B (Grid ref: 517663 156691) will be the reverse of the route described above.

The Public Bridleway 116 (Leatherhead) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026 will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
