Work to start 30th October 2025
MVDC have advised the ARA as follows:-
We’re planning to create two shallow seasonal pond/s (1ft deep x 216m sq) that will fill with water during the winter months to increase biodiversity and take advantage of the naturally wet site. The work is due to begin on 30th October and last for approximately 2 weeks.
Why are we doing it?
Seasonal ponds are special places that help local wildlife. They fill with water and dry out at different times, which stops fish from living there and eating young newts. This makes them safe for amphibians and insects and helps lots of different plants and animals thrive.
The attached letter also makes mention of digging sumps or hollows alongside the footpath from the iron footbridge to the station to help alleviate flooding.
