The Ashtead Resident

TAR has gone digital!

The Ashtead Resident is the magazine of the Ashtead Residents' Association and was published originally in black and white and A5 size. The Association decided some years ago to use this magazine as it's "business" publication with Minutes of the AGM and the Annual Accounts, and to publish a new magazine "Ashtead Village News" - firstly in black and white, then latterly in colour.

Then in 2024 it was decided to amalgamate the two publications under the umbrella title of The Ashtead Resident (incorporating Ashtead Village News). This first attempt was unsuccessful and lessons needed to be learned.

The new Committee decided to bring the publications into the 21st Century and move to a digital format. This meant the news could be more up to date and not delayed by publishing deadlines and delivery of the hard copies.

The Spring 2025 Edition is therefore available to read in various formats - as a straightforward pdf document , or now as a digital document with automatic page turning, the ability to share, print, download, and an option indicated by a speaker which when clicked will read the article to you! So you can now enjoy a cup of coffee and have The Ashtead Resident read out to you!

To see this new facility go to https://mydigitalpublication.co.uk/publication/?i=844677&p=14&view=issueViewer

Click the large arrow to turn the pages back and forth.

Click the body of a page and then the three dots at the bottom of the screen and a print option appears.

Click the headline of an article and it appears as a separate page with options to print, share and if you click the speaker icon, have it read to you.

This latter facility is good as the speaker's voice is normal. It's not the usual computer generated staccato voice. Try it and tell us what you think.

(Thanks go to Nick Bradley for his help on all this.)
