Dorking yes - Leatherhead appeal refused.
LINK’s Leatherhead Banking Hub Decision Upheld
Mole Valley District Council’s challenge of the evidence base LINK used to decide that a banking hub was not required in Leatherhead has been considered by an independent assessor. It concluded that LINK’s findings were carried out fairly and properly and has upheld LINK’s decision not to provide a banking hub in Leatherhead.
MVDC’s Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy, Councillor Paula Keay, said: “The decision reached by the Independent Assessor is difficult to accept and very disappointing. We know that residents and businesses in the north of the district want a banking hub, and we have explored every avenue available to us in terms of appealing LINK’s decision not to recommend that a banking hub be established in Leatherhead.
“The criteria used by LINK to assess locations for banking hubs is very strict, and they also took into account the presence of Nationwide in the town and that there is the automated deposit service available. While it does of course require a journey for anyone living or working outside of Dorking, over-the-counter banking services are available during the working week at our Pippbrook office while a permanent home is being sought by Cash Access UK in Dorking. I will continue to champion accessible banking services for all.”
