These provisions will be in effect for polls taking place from 2 May 2024 and arise from legislative changes set out in the Elections Act 2022 and the Representation of the People (Postal Vote Handling and Secrecy) (Amendment) Regulations 2023.

The document below sets out all the new rules and regulations. If all you do is fill out your postal vote and return it in the post to The Returning Officer then these will not affect you. However, if you collect postal votes from others, or wish to hand in the votes at the Polling Station or Council Offices new Regulations are in place and failure to adhere to them will result in the votes being voided.
