16th Annual Ashtead Spring Clean
Last year’s Spring Clean was cancelled at the last minute as it was scheduled to take place just days after lockdown began on 23rd March. This year, on 17th April we managed to get out there and clean up our village.
The response from residents this year was quite outstanding. The various groups dotted around the village all ran out of litter pickers and fortunately many volunteers brought their own equipment. The groups had members of Rotary helping out as well.
Bags were collected and deposited in two venues; one at the APMH (38 bags) and one at the station (29 bags - picture above). So in all 67 bags of litter and assorted rubbish were collected throughout the village, not to mention the individual street pickers who turned out in their own roads. A terrific effort by everyone, and thanks must go to Chrissy Kerton and Jean Bradley for their efficient organisation of the event. Thanks also to Clive Sterling for collecting the bags from other venues and taking them to the APMH Car Park. Thanks also to Industraheat for allowing us to stack the bags near their offices, and thanks to MVDC for agreeing to make special collections to collect everything.
We still need you to be our "eyes” and note and report the location of graffiti at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also report any barriers or signs left behind after road works by visiting our website and clicking on “Report It” in the Quick Links section on the home page.
