POLICING IN ASHTEAD

Jenny Juffs suffers fall and is out of action for a while (9/5/2012)

The Ashtead Neighbourhood Officer, PC 3401 Jenny Juffs, has been the face of Surrey Police in the area, along with her PCSO Pauline Daly since November last year.

Unfortunately, Jenny fell from a horse last week and suffered a broken wrist. This means that she will be off work and away from the area for several weeks. In order to ensure that the good work that Jenny has been doing continues we have assigned responsibility for the area to PC 40160 Emma Vallins. Emma will police this area as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Team and work alongside Pauline until Jenny is fit enough to return. Emma has previously worked with the Mole Valley team and is very familiar with the local issues and the personalities involved. Emma is very keen to take on this role on behalf of Jenny and when you see her out and about in Ashtead please take the time to stop her and say hello.

A new slant on the 'Phishing' fraud

A resident has warned of the following new slant on an old email fraud:-

Just a warning for Ashtead residents, I have just had letters supposedly from Hung Pang of Kexim Asia offering me a 50% share of £10.5M. It is a typical phishing attempt to try to get bank details - this time on paper instead of as an email. I assume someone is working through the Ashtead phone book since I have two numbers listed under 2 names and had letters addressed to both.

Please pass this on - especially to older people who may not be so familiar with phishing on the internet!
