Ashtead Level Crossing will be closed between 23:00 on 19th June 2018 and 06:00 on 20th June 2018 for signal maintenance works. The usual provisions will be put in place for residents who may be inconvenienced by the closure as follows:-
- Temporary arrangements (as used previously) will enable access for emergency vehicles;
- Ashtead station car park will be available to leave cars overnight. Network Rail will provide a full security presence to watch over any vehicles, as the station is usually unmanned at night.
- Pedestrians and dismounted equestrians will be able to use St Stephens Avenue to Overdale (D3641) footpath if the station footbridge is unsuitable. Motorbikes may be wheeled across the said footpath.
- A vehicle will be parked on the common side of the crossing to offer a lift to residents who live far from the crossing, are carrying luggage or are elderly residents requiring assistance.
The Residents' Association has only just been notified of this closure and it appears due to a change of personnel at Centurion Traffic Management the well established line of communication was lost. This has now been re-established and it is hoped future closures will be advised to give greater notice.
