Did
you know that the Association tries to get the best for Ashtead?

We have a very strong Committee! But they need help.
The above Committee must be 13 of the strongest people in Surrey. These 13 people support over 6,450 others in Ashtead. The Committee looks after the interests of Ashtead residents giving up their own personal time to devote to the village welfare. If you want to be part of this Group please contact the Chairman on 01372 812874 or email him on chairman@ashteadresidents.org.uk.
We often get telephone calls, emails and letters asking for our support which we are pleased to offer circumstances permitting, but please in return offer your assistance to us.
We have days each year when we remove graffiti from walls and fences, but again
it is usually only the Committee members who turn up, plus a very few resident
volunteers. How many times do you walk past a wall with graffiti sprayed on it
and say to yourself, "Something should be done about that!" Well, something is
done about it, and you can all help contribute. The Committee cannot do it all.
Your £2.50 goes a long way, but NONE of it goes to the Committee. These people
are all unpaid volunteers, but they cannot do it all themselves. Please help
when asked and give back something, even in a small way, to the village. Please
contact the Chairman to volunteer your assistance, even for an hour or two. Contact the
Chairman, Paul Le Versha on 812874 or e-mail at

Open Access - another ARA initiative
The meeting dates for this year will be on the 4th Tuesday of each month, September 23rd, October 28th and November 25th with a break in December. The meetings will be held in the APMH Marshall Room between 8pm and 9pm.
The idea of this initiative is to provide more regular and open access to members of the Standing Committee, and to encourage any member who has some interest in assisting with our activities, we shall be holding a regular monthly meeting in the Marshall Room of the APMH - an "At Home", "Drop In" session to meet members of the Committee on an informal basis. We hope the Ashtead Independent Councillors will also be in attendance. We welcome your participation and also your comments.
Would you prefer to be invited individually to one of these sessions? Do you have any ideas that we should consider?
We look forward to meeting you. Come and meet us.
We
rely upon our 142 Road Stewards to be the eyes and ears of Ashtead, to deliver 'The
Ashtead Resident" magazine and to collect the annual subscriptions. We
warmly welcome the following members who have kindly volunteered to be a Road
Steward:
Mrs Sue Stansfield, Larch Corner, Crampshaw Lane for Crampshaw Lane & Druids Close
Mr Wyn Jones, 4 Links Road for The Chase
Mr Brian Greenwood, Cedar House, Paddocks Way for Paddocks Way (1-17 & 2-16) and Paddocks Close
We thank the outgoing Road Stewards for all their hard work for the Association.
We are however in need of Road Stewards for the following roads in Ashtead:
Darcy Road (Even Nos.), Floral Court, Rutland Close, Woodfield Lane (South, Greville Place, and Oakhill Road (48-56 & 57-75).
Without the help of Road Stewards, the Association will fail, so if you can help please contact the Hon. Membership Secretary, Mrs. Judith Weller 01372 279944 or e-mail her at Judith Weller.
